The United States now has over 70 lakh coronavirus cases, the highest number of recorded infections in the world. The number of infections reported so far in the US equals 20 per cent of the world’s total reported cases. The grim milestone comes after an outbreak in the Midwest region in September, according to a Reuters tally. It may be noted that the latest milestone comes just days after the nation surpassed over 2 lakh Covid-19 deaths, also the world’s highest death toll from the deadly virus. Each day, over 700 people are dying from the virus in US.
