Aurag Kashyap has been summoned to Versova police station in Mumbai to record his statement in the sexual offence case registered against him by an actress. This comes days after the actress, along with her lawyer, registered a protest against the way the Mumbai Police was approaching the case. They demanded that Anurag Kashyap be arrested at the earliest, and had even threatened to sit on a hunger strike if the investigation does not pick up pace. The said actress, earlier this month, had filed a case against Anurag Kashyap accusing him of rape. The case was registered at the Versova police station. She had then raised questions as to why Anurag Kashyap was "sitting coolly in his house", even as she has been called for questioning several times since she registered the case.
Reiterating this, the actress's lawyer said, "Had the accused been a poor man, like a rickshaw driver or any one, the police would have immediately beaten him and arrested him. Whereas in this case they have not moved an inch. Why have they not even called him to police station to take his statement?"
He added, "Till now Versova police has not even called Anurag Kashyap for statement recording while almost everyday the victim has to go and take part in investigation. The victim has identified the spot, the house where she was raped and had been called for medical examination on three days and made to sit for 6-7 hours at a stretch."
