Australian officials warn of arrest, fines at BLM rallies

Australian police are warning those that attend public rallies in support of Black Lives Matter risk fines and arrest if they breach social distancing restrictions, as politicians warn the events risk spreading the disease.

Tens of thousands attended rallies last weekend, and more protests are planned on Friday. "We will start writing tickets of 1,000 Australian dollars ($700), and we can use all our powers to move people on," New South Wales Police Commissioner Mick Fuller told local radio station 2GB Radio. "If you don't move on, you'll be arrested."
