Maharashtra govt decides to extend lockdown in Mumbai

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in India neared the 82,000 mark on Friday while the death toll stands at 2,649, as per the latest update from the Union health ministry. The number of cases has gone up by 3,968 in the last 24 hours while the death toll has jumped by 100 fatalities. The number of active cases in India stands at 51,401, rising by 2,182 in the past 24 hours. Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government is set to extend lockdown in the Mumbai metropolitan region, Pune metropolitan region and three other cities of Aurangabad, Malegaon and Solapur until May 31. The global death toll has crossed the 3 lakh mark with over 45 lakh active cases worldwide.
