Uttar Pradesh government on Monday said that it has successfully identified and sealed 208 clusters in 40 districts that had reported cases of the novel coronavirus. As per the government, 481 of the 550 Covid-19 cases in Uttar Pradesh have been sealed in the 'ring-fence' which shall not allow the virus to spread beyond the cluster.
Awanish K Awasthi, Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, told media on Monday that the areas where 85 per cent of state's novel coronavirus cases were reported are now under cluster containment plan. As per the plan, the government has restricted the human movement in these clusters and is sanitising each and every household along with checking every resident for symptoms of Covid-19.
The identification and sealing in UP was carried out in two phases. In phase 1, 146 hotspots were identified in 15 districts. Within these hotspots which were responsible for 401 cases. Awanish K Awasthi told media that the government sanitised 1,71,232 houses in the first phase.
